Post Poned Book Club

Due to a health issue with Rusty, I will be unable to have book club this weekend. I will try to reschedule it once I know more about Rusty's condition. I'm sorry! Hope you guys had a great month and in lieu of meeting, maybe we can share some book suggestions in the comments.

From Funny to Suspenseful

Let's Pretend This Never Happened was by far one of the funniest books I've ever read. Yes, Jenny Lawson uses a few more curse words than I normally find palatable in a book; however, I was able to overlook it because her stories were just so hilarious. From squirrel puppets to the zombie apocalypse to a grandma that thought Hitler was "a sad little man who probably didn't get hugged enough when he was little." Jenny Lawson really made us all laugh and made me want to start communicating with my husband with post its. Our next book (Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin) will bring us to a completely different place. It promises dark suspense with a historical background. We are done with the depressing!

I believe the general consensus is the last book (Atonement) was very depressing and generally the author was very long winded and there really weren't many characters to root for. There were, however, a long list of characters to despise and wish the worst possible fate to fall upon each of their lives. Unfortunately, the semi-likeable characters were the only ones that got a despicable ending. Thankfully, Jenn has pursued a much lighter book and this next one looks hopeful for fun and laughter while reading. If you are ordering for the kindle, use the following link: If you are ordering the actual book, use the following link: I look forward to seeing all of you for the next book club on July 10th. Have a wonderful month of reading! Sarah

Amazing First Meeting!

What an amazing first book club meeting! I really enjoyed talking about The Glass Castle with all of those who were able to show up. It was interesting to hear all of the different perceptions of Jeannette Walls' life. Next time we will be reading The Atonement by Ian McEwan. If you were unable to make the first meeting but would like to still be involved, then we look forward to seeing you next time. Please click on the link to get the book:

Welcome to the book club!

If you are reading this, hopefully that means you have decided to join the book club. The first book that I would like to read is The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. I have included a link below so that you can order the book from Amazon through the blog. My purpose for the book club is to bring us together and allow us one night a month to discuss some great books, enjoy eachother's company, and take a break from the stresses of life. I will also be providing dinner for everyone who comes. I hope you can all make it! If you can't make the book club, but would like to be involved in the discussions, then please read the books and add comments to the blog. I look forward to hearing from each and every one of you!
